After 10 months, I was finally able to take advantage of my sister’s Christmas gift and book my whale watching tour with the Vancouver Whale Watching Company. Boy, it was great, probably the best whale watching tour I have had in B.C. Just outside the Stevenson Harbour, there were 2 Bald Eagles (a male and a larger female) who are very patient with us and just let our group take thousands of pictures. You would think the company just paid these birds to pose for us.They are magnificent bird. Then as we passed the line boulders at high tide, we saw one la male California sea lion hogging on the only rock left above the waterline with a larger Stellar sea lion swimming around him, Continuing on not five minutes later a boat started slowing down, instead of speeding up to take us to the Gulf Islands where you usually see the orca whales. However, before I had a chance to wonder why, our guide announce that there were 2 playful humpback whales off our port side. I'll guy said this was the fastest you ever seen the whales. These whales put on a show for us. Splashing with their flukes and tails . The guide recognized them, calling them Zigzag and Nike. We spent about an hour with them before we decided to move on to see what else we could find . And not 10 minutes later we came across two more humpback whales. Seen for humpback whales just outside the mouth of the Fraser River is a real treat and quite unusual according to our guide. These two wells were not quite as active but they did get closer with one of them actually diving under our boat which was just amazing to watch . We stayed with these wells for about another hour and then since we had already Met are guaranteed watch saving the guy decided to head back in to the line of boulders which Which do I lower tide are now above the water with many sea lions now it's sunny on them both Stellas and California we got plenty of pictures of these posing sea lions along with a few Carmen Carmen's we decide to pose with them And then we headed back in to Harbour been out a total of about three hours as I said before was a great trip I would recommend Vancouver Whale Watching Company.I would definitely use them again. Well worth the money. I also learned one thing, October is a great time for whale watching in Vancouver. I even had change to my first whale sighting report on the BC Cetacean Sighting Network App. My one complaint is that we saw the second group of whales too quickly And we didn't get a chance to go further out to see if we could find some orcas. I guess I'm just greedy.
